New Participant

Welcome to Municipal Employees’ Retirement System (MERS) of Michigan. As a new participant in one (or more) MERS programs, there are some things you should know to help you understand your benefits and make the most of them. We’re here to help.

YOUR MYMERS ACCOUNT

The first thing you should do is set up your myMERS account. With your personal account you can:

  • Add, edit or delete beneficiary information as needed
  • Locate account information for the plans you are enrolled in
  • Update personal contact information
  • Calculate various savings and retirement estimates

Note: One of the most important actions you should take when you begin employment is to confirm that you have beneficiaries on file for EACH of the MERS plans you are enrolled in. You can update beneficiary information any time through your myMERS account.
