Description:

As a reporting contact for your municipality’s MERS Defined Benefit Plan, you play an important role in ensuring plan participant information is accurately shared with MERS each month. And even the smallest errors can result in large issues when it comes time to apply for retirement.

MERS is here to help! We invite you to join us for a free Defined Benefit Reporting Bootcamp where our staff will provide an in-depth overview on the defined benefit plan and how it works. You’ll learn more about provisions offered under the plan and where you can locate your municipality’s specific benefit structure.

We’ll also provide a demonstration of the reporting process and talk about some of the common compliance and reporting issues we see when employers submit monthly reports.

We’ll wrap up the day with a chance to ask questions and chat with your peers. You’ll walk away with a better understanding of the reporting process and how to avoid making errors that could have unintended consequences in the future.

You are welcome to bring a laptop with you to follow along with the reporting demonstration, but it is not required.
