80 Years. 80 Acts.
The “80 for 80” campaign celebrates 80 acts of community service in honor of 80 years of serving Michigan communities. These acts—voluntarily performed by MERS employees on their own personal time—reflect the people, teams, and municipalities that make up the broader MERS community and showcase the collective impact of individual efforts working toward a common purpose. Just as these personal acts of service come together to create something greater, the Municipal Employees’ Retirement System (MERS) unites more than 1,000 municipalities and over 150,000 participants through a shared commitment to public service and community well-being.
As a not-for-profit organization and plan fiduciary, MERS provides comprehensive, cost-effective retirement services with members’ best interests at the forefront—supporting a secure future for the firefighters, nurses, public works professionals, and countless others who serve and strengthen communities across Michigan.
Below are a few examples of the 80 acts of service completed by MERS employees as part of this campaign. Together, these efforts highlight the spirit of volunteerism, community engagement, and dedication that continues to define the MERS mission both inside and outside the workplace.
