MERS is committed to communicating with our participants and employers on relevant issues and benefit information. The MERS Communication Corner is here to help you organize recent mailings or emails that were sent from MERS, so that you know what was sent and any action that needs to be taken.

Please note: All mailing dates are approximate. Large mailings such as account statements can vary up to two weeks from the mailing date.

Contacts: Approx. 200 deferred participants who recently received a letter in error stating they are currently eligible or will be eligible in the future to receive a DB benefit

Date Sent: August 1, 2019

Format: Mailing

Description:  MERS recently sent an annual notification to all deferred DB participants who are currently eligible or will be eligible in the future to collect a pension based on meeting their previous employer's service requirements.

Upon review, approximately 200 participants received this letter in error, and are not eligible now, and will not be eligible in the future, to collect a pension from the employer indicated in their letter.

A follow up letter to those affected participants explaing the issue was mailed on 8/1/2019.
